I'm WFH almost all of the time these days, so if my partner is going to get any time at home on his own in the daytime, I need to make a conscious effort to go out.

Unfortunately it feels like 90% of my effort is wasted because every time I plan to be out for an hour or so, his work sends him off on a call for the exact same timeframe 😭

The butter on the shit sandwich is that it's usually the exact same period that Royal Mail or Evri choose to deliver a parcel one of us has been waiting for 😭 😭 😭

I have one of those #GTD "tickler files" to stay organised (lol). Just went through it to belatedly check my March lists and found my Feb list that I forgot to check. Pulled it out, started reading it...and somehow halfway through reading, it has fucking vanished out of my hand 😭 I feel like I'm in an anxiety dream with the way stuff just keeps fucking VANISHING

TFW you wrote a topical article touching on politics several weeks ago but the client has only just approved it and now it looks weirdly irrelevant 😭

Better Leisure have a system where online bookings for a fitness class don't open until six days before the class.

For example, today is Thursday, so the furthest into the future I could book a class is next Wednesday.

Bookings open at midnight. So of course people stay up until the clock strikes midnight and then book a bunch of classes for the day that's just become bookable.

There's no penalty for cancelling in advance, but there is a penalty for cancelling within four hours of the class. So people hog the bookings until the day before or day of, then decide what they actually want to do and cancel the rest.

So every damn week I end up on the waiting list for classes, then a space frees up and I get to go. But I'm never sure very far in advance.

It is so so obvious to me that the system is incentivising antisocial behaviour!

Looking for suggestions!

We will shortly be looking after our friend's cat in our own home for a week or so.

The problem? Our floors are carpeted and this particular cat hardly ever manages to poo inside the litter tray. Right next to it, maybe, but not inside.

Last time we cat-sat, the cat's hooman gave us an IKEA floor protector for the zone around the litter tray: the aptly-named KOLON. It worked great because I could pick the poo up off it and wipe it clean afterwards.

But the KOLON's edges ride up on a carpeted surface. Everybody ended up tripping over it and a couple of times the edges actually sliced into feet and drew blood.

So we need something that won't do that! Maybe something softer?

Not just *washable* - I don't want to be throwing poo-coated fabrics into the washing machine every day.

We need it to be actually *wipeable* and disinfectable like a tiled or vinyl floor would be.

Any suggestions for something available in the UK?

Replying to @mynameistillian@plush.city
@mynameistillian Since AI became a thing my partner has stopped using PowerPoint for presentations and started drawing his own "slides" on paper so people don't assume he's used AI to prepare his talks. I never used to draw anything and I can't draw for shit but I've started doing more scribbling because it's weirdly liberating thinking "I will always be better than some fucking computer at not being a fucking computer."
