#FridayReads Thinking in Systems: A Primer by Donella H. Meadows is validating that systems thinking is how I typically view the world, but because I didn't have a formal understanding of it, it's making me realize why I sometimes have trouble communicating that approach to non-systems thinkers.

The murder board makes total sense to me, but it seems chaotic and tangential when I have to explain it to someone else! 😅

The only thing worse than edtech is edtech sales reps, especially the ones who are 10xing their spam with AI-powered marketing tools.

It's a plague in every industry, but edtech remains one of the biggest gold rushes, so the spamming will continue until sales improve.

The realization that everything you've documented while doing a job can be digested and repackaged by an AI tool to create "insights" "from" someone else was disturbing until I also realized that output has limited use without the experience and informed insights that created those original documents.

AI can't replace you, and someone using AI tools without your unique experience can't replace you, either.

Those who believe otherwise will eventually find out the hard way. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Didn't even use the treadmill. Finally got out there on Monday and pushed through a "not as easy as it should have been" run.

It's not a perfect analogy, but there's definitely a parallel between the current AI hype and the "three cueing" approach to teaching reading.

I also wonder how many tech bros and AI grifters were "taught" to read that way?

At least two generations sacrificed to flawed educational theories and tech-driven experiments.

@mariyadelano I'm in the middle of evaluating Hubspot and told the rep to avoid mentioning any AI features. He stumbled at one point and I reminded him that pattern matching and automation are things Hubspot was good at long before everything had to be called AI.
