Smart Home is full of weird and misguided product rollouts, but Moduel, who succeed Ikeas ASKVADER takes the cake:
⁃ They invent and patent modular power strips and do all the R&D
⁃ They license it to ikea for 2 years and it sells succesfully
⁃ Then it's taken off the market for a year
⁃ Inventor re-introduces it on their own, sell via a super sketchy website, for twice the price

Watching the Google IO Keynote. Super sceptical about all this, because while it's impressive: Who wants a life like this?
It’s not just Google who's creepy, we are used to that by now. What's new, is that it's the user who's creepy, too.
Good to see that the #Matter Ecosystem is becoming mature enough for new companies to build on it. Not just existing companies switching to it, but new ones that wouldn't have existed without it. This is a sort of bug that should have been caught in beta (or better: with tests) and never been shipped.

Just learned about „WhatCable" that can read out the e-Marker chips on a USB-C cable and tell you what the cable is actually capable of. https://github.com/darrylmorley/whatcable
Apparently works via IOKit. How's a UI for that that not a system feature on every Apple device with a USB-C Port?

1. Encounter an Apple/Xcode error (Today: Building Tests for simulators fail if there's a macro in the project, because the macro's macOS thing accidentally gets included in the simulators linker).
2. Have AI analyze it and try a fix.
3. AI confirms it can't fix it, because it's on Apple.
4. Have AI make a minimal sample project.
5. Have AI draft a Feedback report.
6. File Feedback.
7. Wait.
I hope at some point #Xcode will be multi-window again. I want the console in an extra window. I want (multiple!) Previews in extra windows. I want the AI in an extra window.
When at my desk I have a Studio Display, the internal MacBook screen, and potentially an iPad screen with SideCar. Yet I can only really use the main Studio Display.
Please go back to what macOS was made for and what it was good at. If they don't make Xcode for iPad, what's the point of the one-window interface anyways?

@DonDahlmann Jo, wenn man sich halt nicht drauf einigen kann, wie Altersverifizierung zu funktionieren hat, dann nimmt „der Markt“ die schlechteste Lösung.
(Mein Favorit ist das, wozu Apple/Google in den USA gezwungen wird: Plattformdienst, den man anonym nach „ist der volljährig?“ fragen kann)

Every American should be deeply ashamed to be represented this way.
The more I work with Claude & Codex, I think two points are equally true:
⁃ I could not have done this without the AI
⁃ The AI could not have done this without me.
I’m no longer stuck and I’m excited for what I’m building. This is going to be sooooo good.

@stuffmc I don't worry too much about AI related dependencies. If the EU alternatives are equally capable, (big *if*), the switching costs should be small. „There is no moat“.

Und die „richtigen Informationen“ sind „Strom kommt wieder, bereitet euch darauf vor“. DANN die Details in nen Link zu packen wäre ok.
Das was wir haben, ist auf keinen Fall „ausreichend“ (Note 4), das ist ungenügend (Note 6).

@jad6@mastodon.cloud @hagedose68@social.cologne @justkwin@toot.community Looking into Console, I remember seeing something in the tvOS and iOS log that indicates that it can’t find a camera. Continuity Camera with the Mac works just fine however.
Sorry for bothering, guess my point is that if you think it’s buggy you’re not the only one :-(

All devices are on 17.2 (and it did not work since 17.0) with either iPhone or iPad. It does not matter if the call is initiated or already running. I accept the camera sharing, it loads the UI, but it just can’t get a camera feed. Filed it as FB13220275 it is *some* bug in tvOS, and even resetting the AppleTV to factory defaults does not help.
