So, the Keychron arrived now. The issue is that Amazon mistakenly sent out the ANSI and not the ISO leyout, so had to get it refounded. I estimate it to arrive next Wednesday because they're probably not going to send the new one out before the old one arrives, which may take 2-4 days.

The leather on my chair is literally falling apart everywhere, kinda annoying. I've thought it would last me longer.

Just ordered the Keychron Q6 ultra with linear (red) switches. Excited where this goes. It's set to arrive in two days.

And that is why I give up these projects so fastly. A majority of my local AI tts projects consist out of:
Finding a nice repo that looks promising,
Cloning it,
Finding you need a release with some binaries backed in,
Downloading it,
Waiting for 20 gb of AI dependencies to be finished downloading,
Running it,
Experiecing an error,
running to the AI of choize, giving it the error,
Receiving a new manual dependency fix command,
Running it,
Experiecing an error,
running to the AI of choize, giving it the error,
Receiving a new manual dependency fix command,
And that copy-pasted about twenty times until I'm told to modify it myself. Why can't people maintain something properly or mark it as archived or test it properly? This one is from January 2026 and already so utterly broken, and it pisses me off so much. Probably should back to Pinocio or however that AI platform was called because that one at least works reliably, LOL.

RE: @Tamasg@mindly.social

That's quite interesting actually, I wonder if it is a bug or deliberate feature. For me wwwgooglecom does not work, only wwwgoogle.com does. But interesting none the less and finally saves me from typing https:// all the time.

This honestly sounds interesting, and I'm somewhat tempted. But my Logitech G915 lightspeed deal that I've spot for just 90 instead of 270 dollar is just one year old...

Hmm, so to summarize today: Meta disappoints everyone with their amazing security skills once again and nobody will seriously care about it after a day or two, and Microsoft has it's typical bug day. So, nothing new.

It seriously can't be just me who has the issue in the command line and Notepad++ where occasionally, if you write one character, the one right next to your cursor disappears. So if you write hllo, then type e when your cursor is on l you get helo rather than hello. I yet have to figure out whether a certain string causes that or it's just one of the countless odds being a Windows user brings along.

Claude Code's new /usage dialog is really cool, now it shows me the exact token comsumtion per model and what it would've cost me on normal API billing.

It is so, so unbelievable that a multi-trillion-dollar company's decade old operating system installed on billions of machines still has a stroke on a high end machine when closing an Explorer tab, so far so that it claims your CPU average load is five percent while literally lagging the fuck out of every single thing you do - be it opening a command prompt to terminate explorer.exe or simply switching windows to TeamTalk. Fix your shit, Microsoft!

It may be about time to aknowledge that an entire game server's memory with Lua scripting fits four times into Windows Powershell's RAM usage. The only question remaining to be solved: Is this a good achievement for the developer, or bad for PowerShell since said developer spent zero seconds on optimizing memory? Perhaps the latter, oh well.

@TheQuinbox@dragonscave.space Is it intended that if you spam the produce log button it actually produces faster? You can't stack, but production time then seems to be at least 2x.

@Larvitz@burningboard.net Your original post claimed that this is why the world is being burned. It never was the main point that there weren't more efficient ways to do it, it's just up to question how much more efficient. Technically it's also more efficient to not use the car for a five Kilometer stretch - but nobody is creating posts on Mastodon going off about it. Because ultimately it doesn't matter because neither of those - the five Kilometer example and the weather API - actually matter. Even when chosing the car or llm you don't actually burn the world, which is what I'm trying to say. Apart of that, you seem to be using your own dislike with AI to create one example you're disaproving, while you're posting on a server that is federated to thousands of other servers that all run a social media platform that could be burning the world as much as your supposed AI example. Watching YouTube rather than figuring stuff out yourself or talking to people? So much of an energy waste. Everything can be turned into a string against why we even should have a power grid. What is a waste of energy and burns the world ultimately is a subjective matter of what you're willing to dislike and what you're willing to ignore in favour of continuing to use it.

@Larvitz@burningboard.net What you claim doesn't make much sense. You completely ignore the fact that the weather forecasts are generated basing on estimations and input data, which also get processed by servers in datacenters. Not to forget that all AI queries on the world together still don't add up to what all average households combined use. So before refusing to see an AI as an useful tool, you perhaps should consider that you're actually more burning the world down with your dish washer and oven. Not to mention that your typical Google search or website visit also consumes energy. Just think of all the trackers and statistics that are being collected every time again you visit them. Fortnite? Millions of people waste server resources and energy, one could argue. And that with every single game. GTA, Minecraft, Github. Cryptocurrency? Discord? By the way, I used AI to actually help me find my notes in previous chats about usage and consumtion patterns and to fact-check this properly. :)

@Aman@dragonscave.space Narator still seems to be broken in the majority of Windows 11 setups. You're stuck with downloading an older version as of now, or if you have a version like 26200.6899 or 26200.7171 you should upgrade and try it, since I once read it was attempted to be fixed around that time..

@Aman@dragonscave.space The first one is MBit, the second one MByte. Bit is eight times the value of a byte, or in other words, you'd get 1024 kb/s in your browser at best if you had a 8192 kbit internet.
