MEIN BÜCHERJAHR 2025

Zum dritten Mal in Folge lasse ich mein Jahr in Büchern Revue passieren. Da ich zunächst den Blog wiederbeleben wollte, ist meine handver- bzw. gelesene literarische Bestenliste spät dran, aber zum Glück haben Bücher normalerweise kein Verfallsdatum.

In meiner aktuellen Lebensphase lese ich eine Mischung aus Neuerscheinungen, Klassikern und älterer Belletristik sowie Sachbüchern. Da ich mich bereits im Vorfeld mit dem jeweiligen Titel auseinandersetze, bin ich selten enttäuscht. Dennoch werde ich natürlich hin und wieder überrascht. Aber lest selbst …

On my revamped personal website, I’d finally like to devote a little attention to my longest-standing hobby: photography.

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to visit London. As a devoted user of prime lenses, I chose the Fujifilm 35mm F1.4 (35mm equivalent of 52mm) and the 18mm F2 (27mm) – which, in my view, offer the best balance between weight and flexibility. Only occasionally did I miss having a 23mm (35mm), but I currently value the ability to cover a wider range with these two lenses more highly.

I also decided to consistently choose between two film simulations: a manually adjusted ‘Acros’ (black-and-white) and a ‘Classic Chrome’ preset—depending on whether the subject benefited from color or not.

Krass, was meine #Typostammtisch-Nachfolger immer wieder auf die Beine stellen. Es ist sooooooo schön, zu sehen, was sie aus meiner Initiative – die in diesem Jahr unglaubliche 20 Jahre alt wird und an deren Fortbestehen ich vor meinem Ausscheiden Zweifel hatte! – gemacht haben. Das ist eine enorme Leistung von Anja, Daniel, Fabian, Lucas, Lukas, Samira, Sol, Sonja, Stefan, Thomas und vielen anderen.

Der @typostammtisch@typo.social ist Dank ihnen wirklich nicht mehr aus dem kreativen Berlin und aus dem Leben vieler Schrift-Liebhaber und -Liebhaberinnen wegzudenken.

Die Zeit scheint reif, das Versprechen der Nullerjahre einzulösen. Sachte kommen Blogs zurück und sei es in Form persönlicher Newsletter. Das inspiriert mich, da gehe ich mit. Dabei ist mir egal, ob meine Zeilen oder Bilder von einer oder eintausend Personen gelesen oder betrachtet werden. Sie sollen einfach auf die digitale Reise geschickt werden, ohne eine Erwartungshaltung, im festen Glauben jedoch, dass daraus Gutes entsteht.

Ich möchte digital Gedanken teilen, damit sie zu Gesprächen im analogen Leben führen. Ich möchte Erkenntnisse festhalten, die vielleicht bei der Suche nach eigenen helfen können. Ich möchte Fotos zeigen, die aus meinem beständigsten Hobby heraus entstanden sind.

Aus diesen Gründen blogge ich wieder.

Incidentally, this empirical fact coincides with our experience at @fontwerk@typo.social. We always ask larger customers how they found us. In almost seven years, the answer has never (never!) been social media. No wonder, when in the best case scenario (in the best case scenario!) you reach about 10% of your followers.

According to Type Network’s exciting Type Report, it is more relevant for foundries to post their use cases on @FontsInUse@typo.social than any artwork on Instagram, Behance, and Twitter combined.

@boom Absolutely. I start at fontsinuse.com these days, followed by Identifont, MyFonts, Adobe, search engines and trademark directories (such as EUIPO) for relevant classes.
