Also, dried up electrolytics, bad pots, bad contacts. I had plans to bring it to a niche-famous local repair shop for a full recap (with NOS components where possible) and a MIDI board retrofit; they could also arrange for it to get signed by uncle Vova himself.
But then 2022 happened.
Well, maybe someday. But a signature is not an option anymore.

The fact that the blueprints for this machine had been laid out at a military-industrial design bureau a block down the street from my university still blows my mind (side note: if only they made just synths)
Of course I have (if having it in the hometown counts) one too but I rarely got to use it at studio: the jobs that paid usually required not much more than firing up the XP-50 or TS10 and quickly finding the "yeah that's the tone" tone with minimal tweaks. Polyvox was the polar opposite.

In action: 8+ minutes of ear-splitting Polyvox noise/drone fuckery recorded in 2011 when everybody got dead tired of recording guitars for days and someone decided to randomly tweak some knobs on that big box for a change. Through a guitar amp I think (most likely a 100W Egnater head into a Peavey 412MS cab; I made weird gear choices back then).
Two layers/takes, some reverb and panning, and that's pretty much it.
