people need to be more specific when talking about "ultraprocessed foods". so the news says you'll die 50 years earlier or whatever if you eat ultraprocessed foods. sometimes the phrase means unholy concoctions not suitable for human consumption. and sometimes it literally means normal bread. which one is it? wouldn't you like to know

in the past week, i've seen two separate cases where a screenshot of a webpage makes the rounds and causes "WTF this is real???" reactions, where it would have been incredibly easy for anyone to just go look at the website itself and find out that the screenshot was faked

you can either learn the "correct" grip for chopping a vegetable, or you can go really really slow and careful while doing it. either one is good. either way though you *need* to have a properly sharp knife, dull knife is the biggest danger in that situation

the kid-friendly smurf lyrics are cheesy, but the original e-rotic lyrics are fucking awful

*not literally kidz bop, but there are many novelty acts doing the same concept in different countries

@Owlor@meow.social and i'll note that having the ability to play on multiple separate save files was never like an established feature of the series in previous entries either, and in fact, multiple different users on the same console inhabiting the same town *has* been an integral feature of the series from the very beginning

@Owlor@meow.social it's different in every animal crossing game. in the switch one you're not the mayor of the town, but you (eventually) get full freedom to shape the outdoor areas of the island however you want (much more than in previous entries) however, if you have multiple users on the switch, they all become inhabitants on the same island, rather than getting to start their own separate "save files" like some other games. that's what some people were mad about

no, nintendo did not rub their hands together in an evil plot to make all the poor animal crossing players (who all consider having multiple separate games going at the same time to be an integral feature of the franchise) purchase multiple nintendo switches. the developers of the game just built the game, and if you asked them about having multiple islands, they would go "you want huh? what?"

not to defend nintendo, i'm just saying they didn't expect people to want to play on multiple islands in the first place. which may have been shortsighted of them, but it is very annoying when software is just missing a feature, and people go "you are INTENTIONALLY and MALICIOUSLY PREVENTING me from doing this thing with your software!!!"

@db i enjoy having smart home, but i think devices like thermometers and lightbulbs etc should never be on a computer network, with stuff like IP and DHCP and whatever. zigbee and whatever sounds a lot more reasonable to me, and perhaps optionally a little dongle for a computer to be able to talk to them

@pathunstrom i think the line goes when you can't fully control the software anymore, for example if you could pack up your server software and relocate it to a new place independently i would count it as self hosting. i've moved an existing nextcloud install from a hetzner vps to my own hardware without problems, for example. but e.g. if they set up the software for you and you can't fully access all parts of it like this, it's more towards "no" for me
