The Hyper-Visual Times is a collection of essays, prototypes, and exhibition pieces where digital news articles are used as ground data for visualization. Using open and closed archives, @proff@vis.social and I extracted one year of coverage from two different news outlets – Zeit Online and The New York Times – and challenged current ways of representations for journalistic data.
Here's the result: https://ctechfilmuniversity.github.io/hyper-visual-times/
Wrapping up #Nordmedia25 in Odense, I have to do a not so humble brag:
My PhD dissertation “Design + Data Journalism: Shifting epistemologies, values, and practices” won the prize for best thesis of the year at the Swedish association for Media and Communication research (FSMK).
I am very honoured and happy that many years of dedicated work brought me this fantastic result. The thesis can be read here:

If you are in Berlin I can also give you a copy!
A preview of “The Hyper-visual Times”, my artwork that will be exhibited from today until Friday at xCoAx 2025 in Dundee, Scotland.
The artwork consists in a series of printed “snapshots” from a broader investigation on digital journalism and its materiality and discourses. Later this year I will publish the final results in the form of an interactive essay, but if you are in Dundee you can come by, say hi, and get a preview!
(No, the “Fire Exit” sign is not part of the artwork 🔥)
