The progress is slow, but it is happening. There is a new testing version of #FOSSWarn that adds features such as an alternative polling method instead of push notifications, an alert archive, and automatic subscription to the current location. It would be great if people were willing to test the new version and report any issues.

📢 #FOSSWarn 1.0.1 is now on F-Droid. This release addresses some issues with the push-notification setup and fixes some bugs.

One crucial bug fix was related to the coordinates of the subscription bounding box. The coordinates (after a subscription has expired and the resubscribe feature was used) might be swapped (so lat is long instead). Please check your subscription and remove it if it is incorrect, and re-add the place. You can check the bounding box by pressing the icon to the left of the place name.

Other improvements are:
- a notification self-check feature
- an easy check to switch between distributors
- bug fix with a parser error with biwapp alerts

Version 1.0.1 is nearly ready to go. This includes bug fixes and some useful features for the UnifiedPush setup. @fotd@ieji.de @menschlich@troet.cafe Thank you for your feedback. We will try to find a solution for that. In the meantime, you still continue to use version 0.8.1. Just select version 0.8.1 in F-Droid. And check the "ignore update" until you want to give it a new try.

I would also be interested in what issue exactly you had. I don't have an /e/OS phone, so I don't know what's preinstalled. Could you share some screenshots, etc., at which point you had struggles/ what didn't work as you expected? If you like, as DM here, in the matrix room, or via email. This would be important feedback for us.

@fotd@ieji.de No, in FOSSWarn you can only select the FOSS Public Alert Server. This server runs under alerts.kde.org and is working well. The issue lies with the UnifiedPush distributor. If you want to use the ntfy app as distributor, you can select the aforementioned server in the ntfy app itself. (See our Wiki page for detailed instructions.)

It looks like the @kde@floss.social ntfy Server is experiencing some issues at the moment. This means that you can not subscribe with this server and that your subscription may expire due to the push server not working. 😬

We are sorry for the inconveniences. We hope to fix that soon. Subscriptions with other server (except ntfy.sh) should work.
