Playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon tonight trying to see how many hops to my high school celebrity crushes. I managed 3 to Winona Ryder. Haven’t figured out Nicole Kidman yet.

Other long-term projects include restoring my grandfather's almost 100 year old handmade toolbox, restoring my father's 40 year old steel toolbox, and cleaning up/restoring their tools.

I'm going to see if I can make time to build a saw bench this summer. I would also like to build a bench for setting, and a box to keep our generator and fuel in.

I have uploaded another game jam thing. Obscure Sins: D100 things that make the gods in your fantasy setting irrationally angry.

(It will no longer prompt for a donation; I have figured out how to actually make things free.)

Dad and I are at an old man diner that I found by literally googling "old people restaurants in Hamilton."

Also, if a Canadian restaurant has liver & onions on the menu you can rest assured they have not served a fresh vegetable since the invention of canning.

Also from today's writing: Note, also, that “content” is a term for cultural goods that artificially separates the material and ethical conditions of their production from the material and ethical realities of the distribution channels through which they are explicitly commodified.

@bookgaga I do not. I used to, until I read The Witches of Eastwick, which remains one of the worst books I've ever read. It took me three years. Never again will I let a bad book beat me.

@serialdeviant@mstdn.social @julianlawson@beige.party Interesting! To be clear, none of the ideas in the thread are actually stupid from the point of view of social utility or personal gratification, but they're almost all the sort of thing you'd need to quit your job to accomplish and would basically ruin you economically if you didn't already start from a position of wealth.

A forum I'm on has a "stupid ideas" thread, in which people talk about passion projects they doubt they'll ever realize because they are, typically, labour and capital intensive with virtually no hope of generating a reasonable income, or even any income at all. Pretty much all of them involve making art, food, labour, care, and space available to the public in a thoughtful way. None of them are about phones, computers, or "tech." The world needs these stupid ideas.
