I expect this to be an evergreen observation that will apply to pretty much any controversial news story: the people who model the world as good vs evil, democracy vs tyranny, law vs lawlessness (in other words, moral realists) will never cease to be surprised and disturbed by how events actually play out. Those who model the world as conflicts between preference optimizing agents will consistently have their expectations confirmed.

@cemedia@mastodon.social I had long suspected this "satirical" site was merely an antisemitic mouthpiece. But this sort of article puts it in even more fringe company, such as Alex Jones' conspiracy theories about the Sandy Hook shooting. When you have such strong preferences against Jewish people and Israel, those preferences create the sort of cognitive dissonance that would lead to such a looney insinuation - all attacks on Jews must be psy-ops or false flags.
