@daisy Aus Ethical just sent me a feedback survey and I told them that I'd like them to divest from Woolworths and Wesfarmers or become activist investors and influence their bad conduct towards workers and suppliers.

Today is trans day of visibility and since many trans people in the current times may prefer to be not visible, I would like to say that that's a bullshit state of affairs. The assault on trans rights happening in many western countries (not to discount rampant repression and state violence occurring against sexual and gender minorities in other countries in regions like Africa and South-East Asia) is not just bullshit, it's a heinous evil perpetrated by groups that want nothing short of genocidal fascism, and have chosen trans people to be the most convenient scapegoat.
Trans people are real, trans children and youth are real, they deserve full human rights including legal ID if they so choose and medical support based on informed consent and nothing less. They deserve full participation in public life and they do not owe any specific performance of gender expression to anyone.

@tj Also also - I have spent a lot of time and money on brand-name headsets (Sennheiser, Bose, Sony, JBL), and ultimately all of them sucked in some way. So now I go to aliexpress and buy truthear gate IEMs for 20 dollars and a 5 dollar bluetooth receiver. Ten days after receiving the first set of IEMs I ordered a second one as a spare. Been using that at the gym and on the bike for two months now, and I have no complaints. The IEMs are solid. The bluetooth receiver is nothing to write home about but the value for money is hard to beat.

@tj (I also, years ago, got two free replacements of a set of Anker sports earbuds when I complained that the battery life was nowhere the advertised 8 hour active runtime. That was also before Anker became fully enshittified. I kept recommending Anker to people after that but I stopped a long while ago - it appears that they are mostly in the business of slinging white-label crap for ridiculous prices now)

@tj just a month out of warranty? you should file a warranty case anyway.
I did that with my Garmin Fenix 6 that had a common issue (broken barometer because it's not actually as waterproof as it should be), it was a year out of warranty, and they helped me out (they didn't have any Fenix 6 watches in stock but they gave me a massive discount on a Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar).
Companies whose entire brand value is in specialized hardware, and who haven't managed to fully enshittify themselves yet, will often be very generous with warranties especially if you mention that you've been a loyal customer.
That doesn't detract from the fact that a device dying once it's one month out of warranty is taking the piss, but it's in the company's best interest that when you tell all your friends about this you also say "but at least they replaced it".
