I think that depends a lot on what you’re expected to do. I’d write an email like this if I were expected to be an effective developer on a Windows system. I use Linux because I use vim, not the other way around. I can’t WSL for linux to use tmux or something and be nailed to one laptop screen, it just isn’t worth it. Besides the whacky clipboard problems, it’s just not sustainable to be permanently containerized in your host system IMO. Now if you are using an “I"DE like vscode or something it’s maybe not so bad because it at least plays on windows. Gvim is trash, and the whole reason to really lean in to vim/nvim is to sew your development environment right to any other program you need. IDK, there’s a dollar value beyond which I would not care, but it’s a gross amount.

There is no universal measure or INTELLIGENCE. IQ can absolutely be measured but the question is whether or not it’s representative of something we care about. The fact that you open with “dumb” them say something that is patently incorrect is insanely on the nose. I agree, let’s give more voting power to people who are more likely to have made more considered choices and stop pretending like every vote is the same. Far and away most people are not so bright. In the same way that BMI is not a good measure of health, IQ is not a good measure of intelligence. On the borderline it means nothing, but a BMI of 200 is not good and neither is an IQ of 74 and I’m all for screening at that quality. In the late 18th century US it made sense to make everyone equal and every vote equal (leaving aside slavery and gender inequality) because by and large access to information and education WAS equal. In the end of 2025, that is unfortunately just not true. People and opinions are striated and that is worth some consideration.

New pipe, smart tube, vanced, etc etc. there are about 15 options before I would pay even 1 extra dollar to Google. Every TV manufacturer seems to still have a working option. If none of those work, I can honestly just do without.

Yeah that is definitely against the grain for me. I pay for Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon prime, but never in life will I pay for YouTube premium. I have Google one and I pay enough for it. There are plenty of apps that still deliver an ad free, promotion free, bullshit free experience and the fact that Google works so hard to fuck with it makes me even less likely to ever pay. Paying for YouTube would be like paying for tiktok or whatever dumb shit video service people watch now. It just isn’t going to happen. I will use the service for free, find the content for free, or else it will get cut from the lineup. Pay for YouTube… Lol no way.
