As it happens - though my post doesn’t go there explicitly - part of my motivation for setting aside some time to look into assertions for data pipelines came from looking at analysis scripts that use joins (in an oddball indirect way, because in real life analysts do things in an ad hoc way) and thinking about how I wanted to write safer code for that sort of thing. Analysis code requires a subtly different toolkit to dev code, I’m realising
