@niconiconi There are other reasons why GPIO pins would be connected directly to power or ground. Switch input and function selector pins are often connected directly to the power lines, at least some of the time. I think that is why the microcontrollers that I have used make the GPIOs revert to high impedance on reset.
I would have thought that the firmware would have to account for all pin functions on every layout.
