@inherentlee@flipping.rocks The relevant code can be found here: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/blob/main/app/javascript/mastodon/components/relative_timestamp/index.tsx and here: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/blob/main/app/javascript/mastodon/utils/time.ts But the solution will likely need some discussion – the component is also using the title attribute which further complicates things. (In that we can't simply remove it, but need a more accessible alternative.)

@inherentlee@flipping.rocks Thanks for the extra observations! The first one I'd have to look into more, not sure what might be causing it. Second one is a known issue (though I'm not 100% sure how to solve it yet – the visual time display is shortened the same way after all). The last one sounds like a bug (the list item should be display: none too), I'll see if I can fix that today.

Or were, because all but one of them have been fixed in the last few weeks. :) Feel free to open other issues directly in the main mastodon repo, I think Hometown is fairly light on the UI tweaks in general.

@nev@status.nevillepark.ca @WeirdWriter@caneandable.social Absolutely worth reporting issues. We're currently making a big push for accessibility improvements for the Mastodon web UI. But the list of known issues is long, so any pointers about which are most impactful are helpful to us. Color contrast in general, and on focused elements in particular, has already been vastly improved in what will be Mastodon 4.6

@zl2tod Anyone can verify it. But again: Us using the Canvas API does not in any way mean we're up to no good. Some people browse with JS disabled, that doesn't make every use of JS suspicious. But if you don't trust us, feel free to not grant the permission and file an issue if more than avatars and emojis break.

@zl2tod I don't know for sure, but we've recently changed some things around how emojis are loaded which could be related. The important point is that use of the canvas API is not necessarily malicious or harmful to your online privacy.

@zl2tod Except… it doesn't. We're not tracking users & our code is open-source so it's verifiable. We've been using HTML5 canvas to render avatar previews and emojis for a long time.
