This talk is neither anti-AI nor AI-for-everything. It tries to represent a middle ground where we use AI to write higher quality code, not just a higher quantity of it. It explores how AI can amplify learning, rather than atrophy it. And it represents a future that I'd be excited to live in!

I was impressed with how engaged these students were, and the quality of their questions. They're thinking about what it means to grow up "AI-native", a different worldview than most of us will ever be able to understand.

My answer is no! Knowing the fundamentals of how to program combined with the ability to think deeply about a problem are skills that take you from a junior dev to a senior dev, even if both of them are using AI. And you start developing these skills through your degree.

@jrosell@mastodon.social beyond just "feeeeeling" right, it makes union(filter(data, ...), filter_out(data, ...)) == data, i.e. it's a true complement of filter(), which is a property we were aiming for!

dplyr 1.2.0 is out now and we are SO excited!

- `filter_out()` for dropping rows

- `recode_values()`, `replace_values()`, and `replace_when()` that join `case_when()` as a complete family of recoding/replacing tools

These are huge quality of life wins for #rstats!
