@joe@f.duriansoftware.com I had a thought this morning which was that I miss personal computers. Computers that only did what you told them to do, that only changed when you told them to change, that were YOURS and nobody else’s. Pervasive always-on broadband is probably when that model died.

@tim_lavoie@cosocial.ca I knoooooooow but that means first I need to figure out why it’s not booting and *then* I need to figure out both the hardware and software sides of setting up an RS232 link and that’s exactly the project that I *haven’t* gotten to in the last decade. If someone will do all that for me, they can *have* the computer. And yeah I used this from probably…1991-1994 or so until I got my first PC (a second-hand IBM PS/2). So junior high, really. You code on what you can afford!

@tim_lavoie@cosocial.ca Hoarding it and dreaming! I used to have a decent retrocomputing collection and over the last 5-7 years I’ve sold off a decent chunk of it. I’ve been reluctant to let go of this one because it was my own personal daily driver for about five years in the mid-90s. But it’s *so big* and I’ve finally admitted that I will never set it up and transfer off the BASIC games I wrote in high school

No further details because it’s effectively unshippable so unless you’re local to me (Winnipeg) you can’t get it.
