Today we are releasing Cwtch 1.16!
Cwtch is a privacy-only p2p messenger based on @torproject v3 onion services.
The focus of this release was maintenance, including some important work actively improving dependencies.
As a knock on effect, Cwtch should no longer have issues on systems where memory tagging is enabled.
Plus performance improvements.

@treebarker@mastodon.social thanks for the report!
Previously cwtch was crashing immediately on start up when memory tagging was enabled (which gos has enabled by default). If it is loading and functional, then that is good news.

Testers wanted: If you are using GrapheneOs (/want to use cwtch on GrapheneOs) we think the most recent nightly: https://git.openprivacy.ca/cwtch.im/cwtch-ui/releases/tag/v1.16.0 might have fixed a long standing crashing issue preventing Cwtch from running when memory tagging is enabled.

Today we are releasing Cwtch 1.15.5!
Cwtch is a privacy-only p2p messenger based on @torproject v3 onion services.
This release is a small bugfixes update, with an upgraded bundled Tor, and a fix that prevented Cwtch 1.15.0+ from running out-of-the box on some linux systems
We also now have an experimental apt repository for Debian based systems!

Hi! We are aware that Cwtch 1.15+ has issues starting on some linux distros due to a library conflict. We believe that has now been fixed as of our most recent nightly (https://build.openprivacy.ca/files/flwtch-2025-02-15-01-08-v1.15.4-9-gb6cb/) which will shortly be released as 1.15.5.
I have activated your account. Please let us know if you have any other issues, or if the nightly fix does not work.
