Software engineer with a strong interest in free (as in freedom) software. Church of Emacs member. Books, terminal tools, games, chess master!
I believe in "done" software. Tools, things with a very defined purpose can be thought out, launched, adjusted and at some point, "done", meaning it has a well define scope (hopefully small), addresses and solves an issue.
After this, only bug fixing. With the software being small, bug fixing should be infrequent. If someone using the software wants more, they should try the classic unix approach: compose with another small tool.
Not talking about bloated corporate software
We must take the internet back from big tech. Look at what they did! Centralized into a few enshittified "apps" (because now people only use smartphones) and not happy enough with the result, they are filling it with so much ai junk that it is harder and harder to find humans.
Nothing is inevitable. We can walk away. Just being here in the fediverse is a great start. I think i need to check out how projects like Goblins by @spritely@social.coop are coming along.
