@cbowns@xoxo.zone my big problem rn is all my tasks are Claude Code and GitHub. So my spaces even all LOOK identical.

You’re telling me I can’t develop any sort of memory around which task belongs to which space. And you’re telling me you’ll arbitrarily switch spaces because I switched apps? What is a space if not a sandbox for a specific project?

Recently started using Spaces because I have a lot of parallel projects.

These default settings are diabolical. Who did this.

@marcoarment That’s just variable assignment. Their compiler lets them use wholly numeric identifiers.

@Starfia@mastodon.social and social media can be social networking, if you’re only generating or sharing media with your actual social circle. Social networking companies usually turn into social media companies in the long run, because small-scale networking doesn’t drive enough engagement for shareholders.

@BenRiceM@mastodon.social I think this is the distinction between social media (algorithmically fed UGC) and social networking (hanging out with your friends online).

@robot@zeppelin.flights @siracusa@mastodon.social Staggered by this one! In my youth I worked on a mine site in the Australian outback. It was fly-in, fly-out. I did my job and I slept and ate on site for weeks at a time before returning home for my days off. I didn’t “live there”. Other places I’ve slept and ate and bathed and worked, but didn’t live: • my office • a hotel • a plane • a friend’s house So my conjecture: “Living on the moon” implies primary residence.

Siri show me the Venn diagram of people who think LLMs are conscious, and people who think strippers really like them.

Addendum: there’s bad SwiftUI code, ignorant of modern API, bashing HStacks and GeometryReaders together until something works. That needs training to overcome. Then there’s failures of the framework. Like how you can attach an alert to a button, but not if it’s inside a menu. Or how you can add toolbar items to a bare window on macOS but not on iOS. Those are failures of “learn once, write everywhere” and Apple needs to be better about them. Too many caveats, too many gotchas.

@DavidAnson@mastodon.social for SwiftUI? Not that much. There’s just not that much public code so they’re training on scraps. Plus the models are weighted towards definitive sources, so Apple and the respected technical publishers can steer it on relatively little.

I’ve complained LLMs are bad at SwiftUI, and that’s not entirely accurate.

It has bad default approaches, because it’s all trained stale StackOverflow answers. It can be steered in the right direction if you know what you’re doing, but that’s kind of the problem.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Apple needs to massively improve its documentation and sample code to overcome this. Thousands of sample projects, actively maintained.

(Hi WWDR! Hire me to do this!)

@siracusa Looks like it's not just floating windows. Normal windows have the same issue if they're in the background and you move a window behind THEM using cmd-drag.
