It seems as if the video game industry is shooting themselves in the foot, except for Nintendo mostly.
Sony: Killing physical games, drastic price increases, layoffs, removing access to purchased content
Microsoft: Closing Studios, drastic price increases, layoffs
Valve: Accused of price fixing and addictive gambling (lootboxes), price increases of Steam Deck/Machine more drastic than Sony and Microsoft, lack of community moderation
Nintendo: Only a $50 increase on the Switch 2 in September, made digital games $10 cheaper while keeping physical games around, 10% salary increases for their workers, no layoffs
Sure, Nintendo is very litigious, that is the only downside I see and they are the least bad. Sure, Game Key Cards are a mixed bag, but at least it's better than having physical games killed off completely. Still, those grifters hate on Nintendo, well just because...
Also, Valve being a monopoly in PC games is not good, as well the sales are not as good as they are used to. There needs to be more competition and of course DRM-free games. But in my eyes, Nintendo is the least bad.
