Hands down New Zealand has the best (meat) pies on the planet, but the Aussies have invented the Traveller and I’m beginning to think we can’t be complacent on our pie game. #PyConAU #PieCon

Reflecting on Kawaiicon, and Looking Ahead to Kiwi PyCon:
It’s the day after @kawaiicon@infosec.exchange and I’m sitting on the Wellington waterfront after a post-con brunch. People I met over the the past few days have now packed their bags, or rightfully gone home for a well-earned nap.
It’s a bittersweet feeling, and it reminds me why I do this (running Kiwi PyCon), why we do this. Running a conference is a lot of hard work, and you don’t really get to see the payoff until the very last moment. That payoff isn’t everything running perfectly, or having the flashiest talks, or the best AV setup.
It’s the people.
It’s the friendships that form in the space of a few days, the laughter, the late-night conversations, the sense of belonging that lingers long after everyone’s gone home.
So here’s to Kiwi PyCon, and to the friendships yet to come.
