Some nostalgic posts on bsky are too nice to leave them just there.

I wish we would discuss a great danger of AI generated images more often: As they become more common, people see less and less reality.

Children won’t learn about animal genitals for example. They won‘t know how a tiger really looks, because AI only generates what the training algorithm focuses on instead of biological facts.

Same for circuit boards. With real ones I can look at them and understand them to some degree. AI circuits are utter nonsense.

We are losing something important here.

#Banksy‘s newest sculpture is an impressive comment on the folly of nationalism.

@joyoftech To complicate matters: the dark side on the photo does not cover the same moon surface area that The Dark Side of the Moon is referring to, because the moon was not „full“ at the time of taking the picture.

@mwichary The Caption/Abstract field in the IPTC-IIM EXIF-header is just what you are looking for. I don‘t think that the contextual argument holds. If anything you can still tailor the EXIF in the UI before sending.

@mwichary Why? Because they are great for some people. The ball inside is round and it feels right to grab round things. Why do most companies go out of their way to make mice look like this odd shape that is like nothing you touch in normal life? If today’s UI wasn‘t that hostile to single-button-no-scroll-thingie I‘d be rocking the puck every single day.

@bagder@mastodon.social @shaman007@mastodon.andreybondarenko.com 100% agree. And it is true that if you are forced to go over a text for a second time, you are likely to find ways to make it clearer and more concise along the way. So I see your point now.

@bagder@mastodon.social @shaman007@mastodon.andreybondarenko.com I just don‘t think this example will either increase your productivity nor help the people reading the paragraphs in question. But if it makes you happy: keep up the enthusiasm.

@bagder@mastodon.social @shaman007@mastodon.andreybondarenko.com IMHO for technical documentation: simple is better. BTW. Some spellcheckers can help you write better style before even saving the text.

@mwichary Affinity Designer has a similar feature. It doesn't trigger a warning on Tahoe after you granted the privileges.

@mwichary I don't know if you are venting or asking a question and I don't have all the details. So my idea is: You have installed an App and granted it privileges to do a task. After that task is finished the app starts using these privileges without you knowing about it. The trick is to detect when a voluntary user interaction triggers the access. There are heuristics for that (well behaved app necessary). The OS can't reliably determine if the app stores the image.
