Gotta see if I could add a radio to the existing raspberry pi nodes with an extra board and look into whether there's a cheap watch to use as the messaging/tracking endpoint for the kids.

Our neighborhood has someone running a PBX network with raspberry pi nodes for kids to communicate. Had a wild idea of setting up a neighborhood Mesh network on top of this. Thought this could allow elementary kids to message and securely share location. Ideas or suggestions on where to start on something like this? Ideally something that has iOS and Android apps so parents don't have to have separate hardware? @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org
