@janeishly@beige.party @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu The EU is drafting a bill to limit the amount of political spending per individual, something some member states have already successfully established. This is a crucial step to avoid the cancer of billionaire donations, which have had a deteriorating effect on US politics for decades.

@briankrebs Are we talking about THAT Russia? The one that is an ally of Iran - the country against which the USA are waging a war at this moment?

@randahl@mastodon.social Seeing those pictures makes me want to build wind turbines and solar panels even harder. It makes sense environmentally (see THIS video), economically (cheap) and strategically (decentralized, fewer problematic dependencies).

@benlockwood@ecoevo.social It does indeed need repeating, because many people are trying to convince us that we should wait for some miracle technology that will save all our problems. And it's always right around the corner, just a few years away.

@tshepang@hachyderm.io Crypto doesn't create any value. It's a giant zero-sum game where everybody is betting against everyone else. And I'm not even talking about all those meme-coins, those are basically glorified pump&dump schemes. Plus, there's a general trend towards gambling, particularly in the US, where everything is a bet now.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net Nice side effect: Saying "I intend to (illegal activity)" - - > Clearly illegal! "Has anyone thought to (illegal activity)" - - > Just a curious person doing research.

@oli@social.tchncs.de Celebrated and funded by the same people as cryptocurrency, which itself was designed only to kill the planet faster, help criminals, further the wealth gap, bribe politicians, divide society, harm the ability of democracies to adequately manage economies, AND do all of this in as stealthy a way as possible that is annoyingly difficult to stop and makes monsters of the people who join its cult.

@Ashedryden@xoxo.zone This bothered me when I was looking for a DJ and a photographer for my wedding. Friends kept sending me recommendations with links to Instagram, but I didn't want to get an Instagram account just for this purpose. Fuck those walled gardens.

@randahl@mastodon.social I think this is the shortest, most on-point analysis of the political struggles of the US I've ever read.
