@map@xoxo.zone Speaking of views, I had the coolest experience on a JAL flight out of Okinawa. They had cameras on the tail and under the fuselage, so you could watch the plane take off while you were seated in the cabin.
I left it on the whole time so I could also see us land at Osaka. Very restful to watch your own flight.

@map@xoxo.zone I was going to say “Oh, they should split it on the Atlantic”, then realized that wouldn’t help.
It’d be neat to see it over the Arctic, though. They should add more views.

@buttplugio@buttplug.zone I felt myself descending in a spiralling column of never-ending circular questions. I am NOT equipped for that level of scholarship.
I do not envy the experience I imagine you had.

I really like the new photo of the Earth from Artemis II, where South is at the top of the photo and North is at the bottom.
I couldn’t figure out what landmass was in the photo until someone rotated it. And once I recognized Africa and Spain, it really drove home how maps have messed up my perception of the planet.
Why shouldn’t I be able to recognize a landmass no matter its rotation? I should spend more time looking at maps with alternate orientations.
