Not necessarily Big Tech's AI, but "a program" that can automate this part of the PR process. I'm not interested in a program that gives pointless or bad suggestions. I'm interested in a program that can spot pattern X which I always say "this is bad because Y" and print that for me. If it were easy to write a classic program to do this, I would have written it. If that's easy with LLMs, I'd train my local Qwen or whatever to do it. Not a faceless corpo that runs this on gas turbines, poisoning people around them and lying to me abt how much it costs me.

True but they can't escape the coming inflation wave. As fossil fuel supply thru the strait decreases, intl buyers would seek to buy from other sources, bidding up prices everywhere. That includes American producers who'd gladly export instead of feeding the domestic demand. This could change if the US gov't decides to move away from free markets and imoses export and price controls.

LOL, like we took control after the DotCom crash or The Great Recession, or the pandemic. We can only hope to gain control by organizing and exercizing our labour power. Economically and by extension in AI. Until then, the political class would keep serving whoever holds capital at the moment, bail them out with our surplus and pretend to regulate them.

The demand for construction workers? If so, it could, if there’s enough unemployment. Otherwise workers from some other industry would shift. Creating a shortage there. Switching industries is a more difficult process though. But if there’s already a labour shortage in the construction industry, then that answers the question. There isn’t enough unemployment or shifting from other industries to fill the demand.

When unemployment is low in the construction sector, we can’t have them pay. When they pay, they’ll outbid for workers who were previously building homes and public infrastructure. We’d either have to outbid cloud for these workers, or we’d pay by having higher housing prices and crumbling infrastructure, which incurs other social costs. Real resources are finite.

If you look at the history of capitalism you could observe the stage where capitalism does put profits into R&D is temporary. Eventually capitalists reach enough power that lets them generate profts without significant reinvestment and instead spend them on luxury goods. Happened in the late 19th/early 20th century. It’s happening now as well. In-between that there was a massive state intervention that took significant economic power from capitalist class and put it into the state. The period when capitalism worked well for the majority was a deviation from the mean. Relevant. Th
