I’m convinced that at least some of the Aussie subreddits have a lot of “contributions” from lobbyists. As, I quite often see things that don’t seem Australian… Like a lot of weird pro-gun stuff that in Australia we don’t have in our culture. I’d rather not have them here.

I use Fedora for work. One piece of software I have won’t run in wine though, because it does some weird SSL certificate stuff. So, I still need virtual machine manager. but, everything else, including compiling I updated our build tools to work properly in linux. Fortunately, no smart cards or anything though, and unmanaged system

i can’t speak for that… Or against it (I use fedora anyway). But, I would agree that snap is letting Ubuntu down at the moment, as there is a lot of good in ubuntu too From a user side though, that’s because the whole ubuntu/snap store thing is just clunky, even if we ignore who controls the store. Gnome Software and discover I find are more usable than Snap store. Cosmic will likely catch up too And if you add snap support to the other package software, it becomes a mess I will give them credit for trying these things though, and feel bad for them that Mir, bazaar and snap didn’t really succeed

I don’t really have an issue with snap personally. The real problem is that their store doesn’t integrate with Flatpack properly. So the whole thing just gets clunky

Apple constantly produces crap (unless you are talking about looks). Case in point, every single one of their computer mouses… Even something common sense like placement of the power button eludes them. Their titanium laptops all had flaking paint and failing hinges, etc They are good at producing good looking items, but, any schmuck could tell them they are overlooking basic BS. The only reason they get away with it, is because they produce a product which SEEMS well manufacturered

Trump doesn’t have friends.. don’t underestimate the possibility that they warned Trump. And he said to ignore the warning Otherwise Trump would be suing already… The contractor clearly has some kind of leverage, which is preventing Trump from blaming them.. And I suspect thats a number of witnesses who can confirm they warned him

Sorry, but this sounds like its half bs. It probably has less to do with “rejecting” or anything to do with RAM, and more likely to do with all the embedded systems running it, or lazy people who don’t upgrade simply because they don’t need to I know lots of people running old versions of Mac OS, and it is because their hardware doesn’t support newer, and it works fine for their usecase. They’re not thinking about the hardware in any way. In fact, in contrast to MacOS, Microsoft actually offers this extended support option, whereas Apple tells its users to get f’ed fairly quickly (yet another reason NOT to use MacOS / Apple. You pay a premium for hardware they often don’t support for long). Also, Ubuntu offers 15 years now support for LTS (which is crazy). I use Fedora btw.

You haven’t heard? She’s absolutely interested in uniting the nation into one. Which is why she openly hates woke people, greenies, lefties, first nation ceremonies (and therefore traditional first nations), people who don’t speak english (also some of our first nations), trans people and migrants. She definitely tries to unite suspected war criminals too. In her defence, she does spend 1 day a year trying to unite everyone… Australia day. Everyone MUST unite on that day, including first nations who were invaded that day at one time. And, she at least waited until the day after Australia day to release her “anti-woke” video and song which started openly attacking Aussies she deems are “unacceptable”

Steve from Gamers nexus already did an analysis and found an equivilent PC costs about that much anyway (unless you want a massive ATX case in your lounge). Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo can sell their systems below cost and get it back by forcing you through their store… In fact, thats why the XMBC was so harmful to microsoft, because people could buy underpriced hardware and use it as a media centre. Since this is an unlocked PC (that even runs linux), it has to be sold above cost, or every Cryptobro/AI-bro will buy them and use. Not all gamers are playing 4K Raytraced games. If you look at the charts: store.steampowered.com/charts/ the most popular games aren’t that intensive. Also, we can play games we bought 20 years ago. My Wii U games won’t even run on a switch unless I rebuy them (and the joycon’s on the Switch 1 mostly all drift eventually). All the games I want to play all run fine on my Rog Ally X. So, even a steam machine is sufficient for me.

I don’t need to read this to remember that Trump stood on stage and literally told people they were investigating using brilliant light and injecting disinfectant His medical officer rolled her eyes in the background He also insulted Biden for wearing a mask whilst his cabinet was promoting invermectin His impact rebooted the cooker movement. People look back like “covid wasn’t that bad”… but, the reality is everyone has been somewhat exposed at this point or been vaccinated. Those same people would say the same about small pox after benefiting from herd immunity

But they haven’t… This isn’t a luxury controller, and its priced lower than the Xbox Elite controllers. Furthermore, they’re not taking preorders, so the sales aren’t confirmed. If they were selling them at 2.5x the price, it would make sense to maintain a level of “prestige” and luxury surrounding them… They’re not though, and the high demand already exists. There are more likely specific chips on them that are constrained for now (because unlike Nintendo, they aren’t using cheap garbage that drifts after 6 months and overpricing the controller) If it was some marketing thing, you’d take refundable pre-orders.

How would business connections work? And it was only problematic on some systems, and only for a while the audio situation before it was a total fucking disaster lol. The only real f up was no low latency really which pipewire now fixes apparently And systemd consolidated and fixed everything too Credit where credit is due. Writing a systemd script was so much easier than initd and it resolved so many race conditions and such People just don't like change. It's the same when Wayland. People are pretending like x11 wasn't problematic 😂 The distros didn't choose this stuff because of business connections lol. And I'd love to see what red hat offered other distros to cause them to switch(I'm sure you have receipts) Ubuntu even had upstart and even they dropped it eventually

They stopped selling the last Mac Pro 3 years ago… So literally, their top end computer had 3 years of support of the latest OS. And, they pulled this same BS from PPC to Intel, so, its not the first rug pull. And, its not like Windows hasn’t maintained excellent backwards compatibility otherwise (they still offer windows 95 backwards compatibility in a lot of cases in the latest OS). In this case, the Intel Macs include a T2 chip, so, its not like there is a valid security reason to break MacOS… They literally just blatantly screwed them (the Mac Pro was NOT a cheap computer) Coincidenally, MacOS 27 beta breaks Linux too. www.phoronix.com/news/macOS-27-Beta-Breaks-Asahi

LOL. This isn’t a hidden feature AT ALL Look up Remote Play together in steamworks partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/remoteplay#2 There is also literally an entire store page for it. store.steampowered.com/remoteplay_together I honestly can’t imagine what Vibe coded b***shit you’ve written, that you haven’t even bothered to research stuff like this. I don’t develop games (other than uni), and apparently I somehow know more about the steamworks API than a “game dev”. When I was told this by a game dev and how it was so easy, my first reason was to look it up and confirm it. I can’t imagine what vibe coded garbage you’re pumping out though, that you haven’t even bothered to spend 5 seconds researching the API for the largest Game PC store. I guess that confirms though, that they’re not a monopoly though, if you’ve been operating fine without touching steamworks…

It’s weird how people who haven’t even researched Steamworks are suddenly professionals. If you speak to actual developers who use steam, they’ll point out that with a few lines of code, they can turn a game into multiplayer, and add features which allow them to compete against larger publishers… If you speak to users like me, i don’t give a shit about the pricing honestly. There are games I own on XBOX, Steam and meta, some duplicates. However, I use steam because I can play games I bought 10 years, and Steam have even allowed them to work on Linux by integrating proton. In fact, you can’t even tell they are for windows. And my saved games work on my Rog Ally, computer, and I can still load saved games from ages ago. I can use pretty much any controller, and load Emudeck on a Steam Deck. I’d actually argue that recently, Steam is the best thing that has happened to linux. If we didn’t have them, we’d be screwed

AI is literally just legalized theft of other people’s work. It won’t credit them to any capacity. Also, whilst it is adding some productivity, it’s also being used by absolute idiots who have no idea what they’re doing spreading bad info and causing other people more work. Every idiot is typing everything into chatgpt, getting a bad answer which is obvious to anyone half trained and then promoting it like it’s correct just because AI said it
