I think you may have overlooked the part about "first party interface".

Because you can hand someone else proof of purchase. The only way to truly prevent scalping is by verifying the purchaser's identity, to ensure they cannot transfer it to anyone else. At least not without selling it through the distributor's own channels where they will then collect a fee for the privilege of providing the proprietary platform to facilitate such transactions. I'll take the scalping, thanks.

Okay now get rid of the in-video ads and AI slop and I might consider actually using a first-party interface again.

Honestly I would probably pay for it and be happy but Premium doesn’t solve many of the problems that still exist: being shown the same content over and over Dislikes hidden in-video ads Shorts absolutely crammed down your throat everywhere broken search results AI-generated slop absolutely everywhere crypto spam Google-connected account using view history to spy on you etc. etc. All problems Google could solve easily but simply won’t.

Orion for Linux released in Early Beta

The Early Beta Build of Orion for Linux is Now Available! We know many of you have been eagerly waiting for a chance to try Orion Browser on Linux, and we’ve been hard at work to make progress behind the scenes. After months of building the foundations, we’re excited to share this early beta with you. It’s our first opportunity to let you get hands-on with the new features we’ve been developing. What’s included in this early beta Browsing made smoother The core of Orion is fully connected to the Linux UI, and basic browsing is ready: you can navigate pages, use back, forward, and refresh actions, and start exploring multiple tabs. This milestone lays the groundwork for a more flexible and powerful tab system. Staying organized and secure We’ve added password management, history tracking, and Dark Mode and Focus Mode, giving you more control over your browsing experience. Custom search engines can be defined in Settings > Search, making it easy to search directly from the address bar. Stability and polish This early beta also brings several fixes that improve reliability - from preventing crashes when closing pinned tabs to resolving freezes in Website Settings, and ensuring new installations allow creating new tabs without issues. Note: Kagi Sync and webKit Extensions are still in development and not supported in Beta ✴ Try the Early Beta ✴ You can download the Flatpak build of Orion Browser for Linux here: Download Orion Early Beta (Flatpak) What’s next This early beta is just the beginning. Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue refining tab management, expanding WebExtension support and improving stability and usability. We’d love to hear from you As always, your thoughts, questions, and suggestions are welcome. They guide us in shaping the future of Orion on Linux, and we’re excited to have you on this journey with us. LOL yes it is.

The batteries are only 53kw\h in size

That’s the 150 mile model. No one is going to buy that. That’s just the model they offer on the lowest ring of the price ladder.

because they want the full $7,500 tax credit

…there is no more tax credit.

No manufacturers want to use those batteries anymore because they only last like 2\5 the charge cycles compared to LifeP04

…WTF are you talking about? Virtually everyone is still using them for much higher energy density and power. Almost no one is using LFP.

You’ll need a new battery after 100,000 miles.

Incorrect again.

You should really learn more about what you’re talking about before stating it so confidently.

I really would like to do an EV conversion on an older car. Maybe a 240SX or a 350Z. Or a Honda Insight. Or even a Nissan GTT (which I only just learned existed). But you're talking $$$$ there for what is (most importantly) a relatively unsafe vehicle to drive.

Yes, zero connectivity, relatively affordable, highly customizeable, and repair-friendly (for now). The only connectivity is through the phone app. Only downside is you have to buy a stupid truck. They could have made it a lot cheaper as a coupe.

Depends entirely on your car make and model. On many models you can disconnect or remove the fuse for the telematics control unit (TCU) and it's as simple as that. However you won't receive any OTA updates that will likely solve problems. And if you reconnect to get them, there's no guarantee your car doesn't suddenly dump all your personal data obtained in the meantime onto company servers. Further I find it more and more likely that OEMs either already have or will add a ToS that requires you to keep all this stuff connected, and they'll argue that the data collection is part of the sale. Slate seems to be the only brand currently that intends to deliver vehicles with zero connectivity required.

After spinning up some LLMs and image generating tools, I realized the hardware consumes a lot of electricity, and even 12GB VRAM sometimes wasn’t enough. On top of that, these AI programs also use a lot of system RAM. Now imagine being a big company like OpenAI or Grok with millions of users. How much GPU power and electricity would it take to keep their service running? That’s why these companies are seeking lots of investment. Not a bubble because: it actually uses the amount of energy they claim? No one thinks they’re lying about that. these AI investors know what they’re doing LOOOOLOLOL. I think there are some initial investors who, in the beginning, legitimately thought it would be a good deal. At this point, the investments are driven by hype, and investors know they are, but they’re gambling that they can ride it to the top without being caught holding the bag. That’s why it will collapse violently. Because the moment it starts going down, everyone is going to dump it. Of course, AI-generated content is polluting the internet like never before. But the problem is that you still like or share these AI slop, making them go viral. Okay so we’re now: changing the topic entirely, while blaming users for the poisoning of the information database that is the internet. So it’s a 2 paragraph blog post that doesn’t even address it’s own title.
