@sasutina13@lgbtqia.space @monkeyninja@10base2.dev I bought new regular Samsung TV recently due to moving abroad but my previous one is still in my other apartment working just fine after 13 years. Is it not usual to have them work for so long? ( my mom has plasma TV my dad bought about 20 years ago at least ).

@jenniferplusplus@hachyderm.io I wonder whether it will actually lead to us getting more analog in the end. Basically reverting to what it’s been like before computers became mainstream. Cause if you piss off your consumer base little too much they can decide to ditch your whole set of artificial limits all together. I see many people doing just that with social media now, we cut heavily on our use, select things like Mastodon instead of the Meta, resorting to books for entertainment etc.

Amidst current AI agents hype I’m struggling to understand why would anyone actually need one? How do you people utilize such agents? I’m struggling to find any actual use case.

As a software engineer I do not usually write emails, for example in January I wrote 11 altogether running 3 separate companies. I do not need to have automated agents when I’m writing code, I’m completely fine running my linter after I’m done with work. There aren’t even enough tasks in Jira to wire it to Claude.

My phone showed me a photo from 4 years ago when I was traveling across France. Suddenly I realized I have no memory of working during that time, although I did work remotely the whole time. I do have many fond memories, I remember streets and street signs without any significance in cities I’ve visited, however I do not remember a single moment sitting with my computer. I always liked my work and found it interesting.

It got me thinking, what role does work actually play in our lives?
