@mikro2nd@indieweb.social @emilybache@sw-development-is.social When did design get dropped? Agile and TDD have always gone hand in hand with Incremental Design. If your experience doesn't bear that out, and design isn't talked about in a TDD context, then someone has dropped the ball. BDUF was definitely an issue: I've seen a team spend a year doing design before starting any code, only to find that the design didn't work in practice, and the environment had shifted anyway, so lots of it had to be redone as the code was written.

Originally Technical Debt was about making a choice to do something cheaper/less well now for some benefit (e.g. time to market), and defer the cost of that until later. These days it is often used to mean something that is less than ideal about the current codebase, so a leaky roof could be a more reasonable analogy. I like the cheap scissors idea though
