What I mostly don't understand about the #coronation is how it's possible to spend £250 million in one afternoon. They already own all the golden whatnot and the venue is provided by the church Charles is head of, so where did all the money go? It's a huge undertaking and I can believe it might cost £20m, but a quarter of a billion pounds? There's just no way that adds up without anyone getting swindled, is there?

Today is special because it's the only day you can call yourself a republican on fedi and not be immediately blocked by literally everyone

i'm currently leaning towards tech.lgbt, in part because i think i probably post too much general nonsense to justify doing so on the mathstodon.xyz local timeline, and self-hosting sounds prohibitively time consuming and rather more expensive than it really needs to be

@lesswrongmorekind@masto.ai I really increasingly feel like macOS is a terrible operating system — they keep adding weird functions like whatever the fuck Stage Manager is, but the basics work less and less well with every release.

What am I supposed to do with this? What file? Where is it? What's the problem with it? And can we please at least acknowledge the theoretical possibility that I, the sentient lifeform in this conversation, know what I am doing, and you, the rock we tricked into playing Sim City, might have made a mistake?

@futzle ok but since gender is a social construct, and therefore different societies will construct it differently, it must surely be possible for a person to be a boy in their irl society but a girl on here? Like, could mastodon "make someone trans" by constructing a model of gender *in which* they were trans?
