@grumpygamer good read. It's not the first time I hear similar experiences from people using C or C++. I program Go on a daily basis (Cloud systems) and I find that it gets things right more often than not. Maybe certain types of environments are more suited for the current iteration of AI? Ask it to fix a flaky bug though and anything can happen 😂

@Orb2069 @Madic @jnkrtech are you talking about things like blockchains? If that's the case, many of us saw through that from the very beginning. I don't think I know a single person who thought that was a good idea back in those days when it was hyped in some circles. My feeling is that AI is a different beast here. It is actually useful technology which many are seeing but only time will tell whether it sticks and if so in what form.

@jnkrtech unfortunately that's not how reality works though. Ultimately, in competitive markets, underperformers will be at a risk of losing their jobs. And while there are many who perform just fine without these kinds of tools, it is looking like LLMs are raising the performance bar across the board meaning those using them will just have an advantage over many others who choose not to.

@grumpygamer@mastodon.gamedev.place So much this. ❤️ Leaving twitter was hard, and I was mostly a reader and didn't post very much, I can't even imagine how hard it was for those more active. And having seen most people I followed be active here helped. I can't imagine why one would want to go back after going through that process.
