Okay!!! I think we're good now.
We just underwent two updates! First, a massive update to Hometown v1.2.0 (Mastodon 4.5.6). Then, an itty bitty lil security update to Hometown v1.2.0 (Mastodon 4.5.7).
That should conclude the downtime. Thanks for your patience!
Yikes! Sorry for the long downtime. We're back for the moment. Might be a bit more downtime but it should be short. Let me know if anything's not working right.
Attention labyrinthians! We will soon be upgrading to the new release of Hometown.
The main thing users need to know is that it implements the features of Mastodon 4.3, 4.4, and 4.5. See the Mastodon release announcements for more info:
Mastodon 4.3 https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2024/10/mastodon-4.3/
Mastodon 4.4 https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2025/07/mastodon-4.4/
Mastodon 4.5 https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2025/11/mastodon-4.5/
Probably the biggest deal is quote posting.
Not sure when I will apply the update. There'll be a little downtime I think. I will keep you posted.
Attn labyrinthians: the new release of mastodon has two big new features: quote posts and reply federation (so there won’t be “missing” replies under posts anymore). In case you are wondering: Hometown isnt updates with these features yet and I don’t know when it will be! (@darius@friend.camp, any idea what we should expect in that regard?)
We’re having intermittent issues this morning. Seems like an ongoing issue affecting multiple customers at linode (where this server is hosted) 🤷
labyrinth.social is three years old today! Three years in a labyrinth! The secret treasure must be in this labyrinth somewhere. Keep looking!!!!!!!
@schoolboy@c.im I was geting 500 errors which I traced back to redis, and ultimately turned out to be related to disk space.
Okay, it seems we are properly back up and running! Fun little distraction today.
Thank you for your patience, labyrinthians!
Thanks also to @rrgeorge@raphus.social @Gargron@mastodon.social @thisismissem@hachyderm.io for helping me troubleshoot.
Okay I think we're back for real now? maybe?
me, a hobbyist dilettante, troubleshooting redis, only sort of knowing what it is or does
I've been seeing some downtime and errors this morning. Not sure what's going on but I'm keeping an eye on it.
