I enjoy thinking and doing. Not necessarily in that order.

@sundogplanets strongly concur. There was this amateur radio dude over at ARISS that barfed up the most amazing sea lion tweets at me, back when Twitter was pretty good. I (very gently) pushed back, explained why the "I'm JuSt AsKiNg QuEsTiOnS yOu ExIsT tO eDuCaTe Me BuT i aLrEaDy MaDe My MiNd Up YoU uNpRoFeSsIoNaL BITCH!!!!" approach was ineffective at best and a deliberate way to power-play/toy with me and waste my time at worst, and he just completely blew up from there. It was ridiculous. It doesn't matter how good a job you do at communicating. That's not why they are there. So, after that, nope. No engagement. If you don't see me as a person (women aren't people to these people) then we just cannot speak again. Blocks are one way to ensure that. Sure, you can make an effort to reach out and make things right, but sea lions never do. Sexist small-pants piggy-faces will go down with that ship, fronting forever that they are the "good guys", just out here "trying to learn". Because this tactic works. Why? Because women are supposed to be "help meets". You know, Helpers. Helping! You're not HELPING if you don't act like a knowledge vending machine and the man has infinite credit. You aren't making it EASY. You're not making me a mental SANDWICH. And you get called names and they dunk on your work and make you pay and fulminate and fester. So, yeah. Block away.

Arcanum: Phase 1 of an Open Source Conformal Method of Moments Antenna Modeling Software is Complete

The NEC input parsing and phase 1 (geometry) are finished and pass unit tests, with the work that the community has done so far. This is an excellent achievement, but it needs to stand up under the sort of testing and expectations that someone exactly like you, a person reading out of interest in open source wire antenna models, would demand. In other words, it better work for you too!

Before we start phase 2 (electrical analysis), now would be a good time for amateur radio enthusiasts to try cloning the repo, reading the CONTRIBUTING.md, and making sure that the development tools can be set up as described and that you can run the tests and examples. This needs to happen without unnecessary pain or blockers.

If you are up to giving it a shot and want to try this out, then it would make a very large difference. Why? Getting things right now pays off big later. Getting things right now means that the development environment and phase 1 results act right for you in the long term. It means that someone that does not have direct or insider knowledge of the design, and doesn’t have anything set up in advance, can directly benefit. If it works for you, and passes tests, then we have met a major milestone.

Try it out and let us know how it works for you. Interested in contributing to phase 2? Welcome aboard!
