@libreoffice @tdforg Meritocracy is one of those situations that sound noble, but are meaningless without definition and discussion with the whole organization. At worst it is just in-group supremacy. At best it is a way for the org as a whole to put decision making in trustworthy people.

@Daojoan Our entire culture has been hollowed out by this thinking. And not just by fly-by-night dropshippers- people with MBAs from prestigious schools. This notion that nothing matters but the bottom line, and delivering as little as legally allowable is the correct and smart thing to do. The result is a negative feedback loop where the only thing that can compete is the shittiest thing. It's a race to the bottom and we all lose.

You are in rarefied circles if the people you a surrounded by are competitively reading. The people I'm around brag, BRAG, about how few books they've read.
