Watching @paige’s video on Mastadon has revived my waning interest in this platform (or any of the post-X micro-blogs, tbh). Now anxiously waiting announcement of his new business of custom curating the feeds of hapless clients 🙋🏼♂️.

OK, it's finally here, and I'm excited to share the first-ever Shifter Global Bike Culture Index, exploring the urban bike culture of more than 100 cities around the world, with data from viewers. Come check it out!

@paigesaunders@mastodon.social If they are submitting my videos for a grade, I think they’d need to do more than some light editing

@cifer This is probably true, but the whole "multi-terrain" thing baffles me. I see this with people who buy low-end mountain bikes for city use, just in case they go off-road, which they never do. I worry they'd be better off with a city bike.

@paigesaunders@mastodon.social This theory sounds plausible. I see so many older dudes riding these in full black, motorcycle helmets, skull-and-crossbones bandanas, and a Bluetooth speaker obnoxiously loud.

@paigesaunders@mastodon.social @OhTheUrbanity I found that I rely a lot less on my ears when riding in safe places, so a total ban on earbuds feels a bit car-brained to me, especially in a place with a lot of separated infrastructure. The consequences of a mishap on a bike compared to a car are just so wildly different.
