@autiomaa@mementomori.social @socketwench@masto.hackers.town The way I'm thinking about it would use browsers' parsers/rendering engines directly (with Content Security Policy/Permissions Policy style controls over allowed tags). JSON would be used as the connective tissue to link sites together. I've got a bunch of scratch notes about the idea. DM me if you're interested.

@socketwench I'm convinced were 1-3 hacks away from using RSS as the backbone for website based social networks. There's no obvious value to extract so corpos aren't working on it, but it's like, right there.

so this is cool: hand collected rss feeds with hacker new style voting. read the faq and send in your feed.

@pluralistic@mamot.fr I don't know if you've covered AI voice bots being used to scam seniors (and, I assume, everybody else). I witnessed an attempt. They're nasty.

@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io reminds me of folks who justify actions based on legality. The disconnect that happens where folks forget that laws are made by whoever is in power. That legality does not ensure morality.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net does connectivity come into the definition, or is the pipe just considered to be _some_ pipe?

@ireneista@adhd.irenes.space @wakame@tech.lgbt @richpuchalsky@mastodon.social I totally used the wrong term. I meant Certificate Authority instead of Central Authority. :blobfoxfacepalm: I wrote a reply, but it got long. And, while I don't think I'm going Reply Guy, I'm punting it over to my site to keep it off of main just in case. It's here if you're interested: Paladins Librarians of The New Dark Age https://www.alanwsmith.com/en/33/zG/je/Dd/?paladins-librarians-of-the-new-dark-age

@ireneista@adhd.irenes.space @wakame@tech.lgbt @richpuchalsky@mastodon.social I wonder how long it takes until we start seeing trust chains designed to validate a human wrote or vetted a thing? (at least, I hope it's only a matter of time. I figure librarians would be the central authority)

@twilliability@genart.social @birb@rss-parrot.net I broke something :blobfoxbreadsnoot:

I just setup an atom feed for my site today and tried to make a parrot account for it. It came back with just an @ that points to /u

https://hachyderm.io/deck/@birb@rss-parrot.net/111690395492612609

(I'm using a rust crate to build the feed and it's very possible I've got something set up wrong, but it's working in NetNewsWire)
