@strypey @Kir @kimcrawley @JessMahler It's certainly not the magical hacking device that the media makes it out to be. For example, my Australian garage door opener (which uses frequency hopping and rolling codes) is beyond the Flipper's ability to capture, let alone retransmit. It also doesn't do anything WiFi on its own (but there's an addon board you can buy and plug in that adds WiFi). Any decently secured system will be immune to anything this can do. But you'd be surprised how many garage door systems use a simple fixed code, how many hotel door systems still use the old Mifare Classic NFC cards (which the Flipper, with the aid of the phone app, can sometimes break the encryption of), and how many people, including those responsible for building security, don't realise that RFID tags are completely unencrypted and can easily be cloned. The way I see it, the Flipper is helping to make the world safer by forcing people to take security seriously.

@strypey It can read and emulate NFC cards, RFID tags, Dallas iButtons, and infrared remotes. It can receive and decode various radio devices such as garage door remotes and some car key fobs. Depending on encryption (or lack of), and the radio regulations in your area (it will refuse to transmit on licensed frequencies), it can retransmit captured radio transmissions. For example, you can download and transmit a radio code that will cause nearby Teslas to pop open the charging port door. It can communicate with a companion app on your phone over Bluetooth so you can manage saved data and install third-party functionality (apps) onto it, but doesn't require that (can operate fully standalone). It's a cute device that does a little bit of everything in the "transmit/receive data" category, but much like a real Swiss Army Knife, the “full-size version” of each included tool will always be far superior. But it fits in your pocket and has a cute dolphin avatar. @Kir @kimcrawley @JessMahler

Me, forgetting that vanilla JS has yield and generators: “I wish JS had yield and generators”

Wrote a Python script today that converts MIDI to DMX so I could use the sliders and knobs on a MIDI controller to control lighting
