I… Actually have no linen clothes, but those photos look so breathable and comfy. Maybe that’s something I should get some of this summer. Just need to find some at op shops to align with what I’ve been sticking to for the last 4 years: No brand new clothes except undies and socks. Is it easy to care for as well? Throw it in the laundry machine on cold, hang it outside in the sun to dry?

Yeah, I’ll definitely have to call around and see what there is around here. Melbourne is big enough - there should be more than a few options out here!

Yup. Pretty spicy. I debated for a year about getting a pair, but my Blundstones have started letting in some water so I had to stop putting off getting any new shoes. What I plan on doing is wearing down the soles a bit before getting them resoled with something way more durable and slip resistant than the crepe. I saw somewhere that someone replaced it with Vibram soles! I think they were in the States, and I’m not paying for shipping and USD. Someone local must do it, surely.

Thanks for the suggestion and tip! Trying to avoid Amazon, so I’ll see what I can find outside of it first.

Oh, that’s alright, but thank you for the heads up! Yes, I’ve also seen a bunch of new brands that I’ve never seen before so I’ve been wary. Like Groundies, Saguaro,… The only ones I can think of at the moment because it’s past my bed time, haha. I think I’ll be happy to wait a little longer to see how these new brands still hold up in another year or so.

Yup, I’m hoping the same. Once they break in, I’m hoping to fall absolutely head over heels for them. These boots are from Denmark! Found them here in Australia, so yes, the price is higher than likely anywhere else in the world coming from that far away, but so far, worth it. :)

Oh, they’re so good. Depends on where you lace them - I like it on the second from the top so it has a little more give when a take steps, but you can also lace them third from the top and they’re also great. Really comfy, but I just find that my feet slip around a little more without the lacing up the ankles. Though in saying that, maybe the leather is just really stiff still. I haven’t worn them all day, just for a few hours when I get home. I also love sandals and that’s all I wear in the summer. If I remember, I can come back with a reply in another month or two to let you know how I go after breaking them in. :)

I know, that’s one of the things that caught my eye, the stitching. The website says they are “traditional European Veldtschoen construction and precise double stitching.” I’ve heard so many good things about these boots so I decided to drop the money and just gift myself a pair. Same here - I’ve also got big, wide feet (size 10-11 depending on brand and style). Great for swimming, not great for finding shoes that fit well. Just looked up the Thursday Boot Company… I’m really liking the stitching on some of them, wow! Here in Australia, Red Wings only seem to mostly do boots and shoes for work, no heels… But I am atrocious with heels. I can just look at a pair and my ankles roll!

I don’t know the brand Colorado, but I just did a quick internet search and some of those shoes are so cute! Definitely would have taken a look if I knew about these before and found they were sold in Australia. I have had the same pair of Blundstones for 7 years and they’re still going. The only issue is that both soles have cracks along the balls of my feet, and a lot of cobblers don’t want to touch them (for resoling). I went to a local Cobbler who had time to chat and he said that trying to take off the soles of Blundstones is a nightmare. He said that molten rubber flies everywhere and it’s just not worth the effort. Though saying that, I found a place in Ottawa (I think, but I know for sure it’s in Ontario), and a place in Western Australia that resole Blundstones. May consider, but I may retire my Blundies once I get some good mileage on these Duckfeet before making the ultimate decision. Resoling potential was high up on the list for me! I didn’t realise it, but I’ve been wearing barefoot paddle shoes for years. I love barefoot shoes.

Ohhh, I like the sound and look of those! I’m also looking for a new pair of regular everyday shoes to replace my runners. Perhaps also to use in the gym as well. Do you have any suggestions? These are Duckfeet Faborg boots. They also have the same version but lined with wool, or the same version but pebbled.

They are super comfy! Been wearing them around the house to break them in and soften the leather a bit more before taking them on the road. The wool insoles are coming this week, so comfort and warmth should level up when I’m walking at 0C in the mornings!

New leather boots!

I just bought some Duckfeet boots for these flippers, and I can’t help but love them. I love the colour and the comfort, and there’s so much room for toes. All of my shoes are either dying or not fitting well, and because adulting and becoming more environmentally conscious, I wanted good quality shoes that will last and can be resoled. I’m still a bit conscious that they are not shaped like a “regular” shoe and that I’ll stand out, but I’m at the age now where I’m saying more “Who cares, and if they do, why do their opinions matter?” "Marble"y pattern isn’t as prominent now after I’ve conditioned them, but they’re still pretty and cute… 👉👈

Can confirm, ants in Australia are evil. Though I haven't done research on this topic, I do have a first hand account of how freaky red bull ants are. I've gone hiking and sometimes I come across them. I usually hike with poles, so I always look before I plant. I planted by a red bill ant once, and it really took offense. It kept facing me no matter which direction I was from it, like it was waiting for an opening to climb my shoe, sock, and get my leg. I have been "stalked" when taking small steps away. I don't think they sting, but their mandibles, though. 💀 Not sure if there's any documented deaths caused by this ant, but it sure would hurt being bit. Same with bull ants. Deaths from anaphylaxis probably, though.
