I now own what I think is my favorite part of my games collection: the elusive Korean copies of Pokémon Gold and Silver 🇰🇷

It took a bit of money and some research to order them from South Korea, I’m very glad to have them now!

C’est un rétro-portage de l’intégralité des graphismes, fonctionnalités et contenus des versions Japonaises originales de la génération 1 vers la localisation Française.

Si jamais vous avez envie de rejouer à la Gen 1 et d’avoir une expérience différente que celle que vous avez déjà vécue, mais qui reste authentique, essayez les versions JP-FR !

Okay if I have one issue with Gen V, it's the amount of features and informations the game pushes on you. Every time I have to remind myself what's dream world, dream radar, dream link, heylink, memory link...

And most of these features are defunct (relied on online servers that shut down only a couple of years after the games launched, or need a 3DS downloadable game that you can't get anymore if you didn't get it before the eShop closed) or difficult to access because you need people local to you who still play those games.

It's a lot of noise in a playthrough (I'm more annoyed by those than the hand holding in more recent games) but it also make the game feel like they have a shelf life and we're way past it.

That said, that's all really minor because of how high quality everything else in the game is

Random Pokémon opinion: G/S/C protag house clears all the others and it’s not even close. The wood everywhere is such a vibe, especially on a GBC or GBA sceen. They made it boring in HGSS though

TIL that Bulbapedia (@bulbagarden@mastodon.social) lets you change the site’s theme when you’re logged on! My favorite is now Vector (2022), which makes it look mostly like current Wikipedia.

Hello fellow Pokémon players, I have a question:

Can I use one PokéWalker with multiple HGSS games?

When I look up on the internet I only find answers to "can I use 2 PokéWalkers with one game" which isn’t possible.

Imagine I get a loose copy of Pokémon SoulSilver, will I just be able to pair my PokéWalker I originally got with HeartGold to that? Or will I need to reset it? And if I have to do something like that, will I lose the special event distribution routes I got back in the day?

But even if it were you can definitely access porn on other Mastodon servers and that would still make it subject to age verification laws. And banning all servers that tolerate tagged/CWed porn is also something I don't have the time or ressources to get done properly, nor something I want to be doing in the first place in principle.

Similar legislation went into effect recently in the UK. This kind of overreach will kill all independent, non-commercial internet and leave only corporate actors with interest in collecting user data.

This is a serious message with implications for the future of donphan.social, though I want to make it clear straigt out of the gate that nothing has been acted on and there isn’t a clear resolution yet, but I want people and my userbase, mostly, to be aware of something that might happen.

French legislation is cracking down on pornography, requiring ID verification for its users or to face a nationwide ban. Currently, primarily pornographic websites are targeted, but there are indications that it could extend to social media like Twitter, BlueSky, Mastodon and Reddit.

Quite frankly, I don’t have the time and resources to handle ID verification but also all security and privacy implications that receiving, processing, storing and disposing of this kind of data, nor do I even want to in the first place.

If I am forced to do so I will unfortunately have to close donphan.social.
