There has to be a better way to work through commercial AI extraction than this conservative drivel

"Senior administrators must do more than issue statements supporting open access. They must embed publishing reform into the core governance of academic life."

The main problem with this piece is that it takes for granted that university leadership cares about the ills of commercialisation. I don't think it's sensible to assume that the university as an institution is on the side of grassroots academics in many matters.

We've just released our first report from the MORPHSS project: **Openness in the arts, humanities and social sciences: Documenting open research practices beyond STEM**. We explore the narrow focus of existing frameworks of open research & propose more inclusive ways of accommodating the diversity of open practice across all disciplines.

I'm going to try to use this space for my research-related stuff, rather than my usual shitposting about academic publishing (pinning this as a note to self).

Posts will also delete after a few weeks.
