Cringe US Senate won't pass massively popular SAVE act with fifty percent of votes.
Chad EU parliament passes massively unpopular mass surveillance bill with less than 50% of votes.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st Some companies use "director" as a synonym for "manager" which is a low level position. Which is stupid. But not as stupid as making half your company "VP" which a lot of companies also do. Job titles are almost always stupid. The H1B visa should be abolished, but the government needs to at least raise their minimum pay to $200k or something. H1B was meant for highly skilled workers. $53k is not what highly skilled workers make in 2026.

WOTC isn't messing around when it comes to union busting. They've unleashed the most powerful weapon in their arsenal. That's right: dead naming.

Low budget horror movie supremacy. I am not a horror fan, but I have to give it to horror fans. They consistently show up for low budget movies, which ensures a steady stream of horror movies. I wish Sci-fi fans would do the same thing, but we won't even get out of bed for less than $100 mil in sfx alone.

Most people expect national park entrance fees to go towards taking care of national parks. What were Democrats using the money for? What do Democrats think the money should be used for?
Also Trump is a real estate guy with experience taking care of historic properties. I trust him to take care of all these monuments much more than I trust the people criticizing him.

@Wormwood@poa.st I remember when I first learned about HP Lovecraft and they praised him for "cosmic horror" where the horror is just about the reality of the universe and the existence of ancient gods that don't care about you. Then I actually read it and turns out it's all about race and societal decline. Almost all of it.

@vitalis@dirtyknight.life reminds me of a famous incident of mass hysteria:
The laughter epidemic began on January 30, 1962, at a mission-run boarding school for girls in Kashasha. It started with three girls and spread throughout the school, affecting 95 of the 159 pupils, aged 12–18.[2][3] Symptoms lasted from a few hours to 16 days, averaging around 7 days.[4] The teaching staff were unaffected and reported that students were unable to concentrate on their lessons. The first outbreak in Kashasha lasted roughly 48 days. The school was forced to close on March 18, 1962.[5] When it reopened on May 21, a second phase of the outbreak affected an additional 57 pupils. The all-girl boarding school reclosed at the end of June.

@sickburnbro It's amazing that this hasn't broken containment. In 1976 there were 10 million illegals. After fifty years averaging one million additional illegals per year, the government now says there are 11 million illegals.
The actual truth? I think they are also lying about the number of legal immigrants. Visas and green cards are being issued way above the legal cap.

Turtle wow shutting down may 15. One of the more innovative private wow servers. Wonder what happened. It seemed like they were making good money and they are in Russia, so actibliz can't touch them.

@catmanmancat Twenty five years ago some footage leaked from a training given by a lawfirm that did visa work. It showed how to skirt h1b regs and get approved anyway. Everyone on slashdot was outraged. Absolutely no one from that lawfirm got in trouble. None of their corporate clients got in trouble. No one in the government changed any policies at all as a result. It would not surprise me at all if these numbers were completely fake and the actual number of issued h1b visas was far higher.

This is a funny phenomenon that I've spotted multiple times. My favorite example is Jordan Weismann. Weismann created Battletech/MechWarrior, Crimson Skies, and Shadowrun. Wesmann sold and rebought Battletech three times 😆

If it takes you 4 tenths of a second to move your foot between the gas and brake pedals, you should not have a driver's license.
I got a new car a few months ago that my wife primarily drives. The car tracks how much gas is saved by the stop/start feature. After months of driving it finally hit one gallon. There's just no way this feature is environmentally a plus. Maybe if you drive in traffic all the time. Otherwise, no way.
