Now I want to go back and play through Mass Effect again. There are so few games where you can set your friends up with each other.

Yeah, I can’t remember any either. I just assumed they were characters I never talked to since the game has so damn many good ones.

It has several transsexual characters that are properly fleshed out and not just tokens that are put in the game in order to fulfill some specific criteria. And they are presented as “just another npc with lots of interaction”, and you need to talk quite a bit with them to notice they are trans. I agree with you that societal rules are mostly arbitrary bullshit. Communication and consent are the important things. Your relationship should work the way its participants all agree on. You might want to edit your original post though. You're probably getting downvoted so heavily because without that context it sounds like you were cheating on an unknowing partner and couldn't see any problem with it.

If you're open about it ahead of time, that's not cheating. Cheating is when you go behind your partner's back with someone outside of the established relationship. Relationships are built on trust and establishing boundaries. Cheating (as the name indicates) breaks both of these. It's completely different from an open relationship due to one missing and _very_ important component: consent. If your partner is okay with it, have all the (safe) sex you want. But going behind a loyal partner's back and breaking their trust is of course going to hurt them. Even if they would have been okay with an open relationship, you not asking beforehand will have them wondering why you hid it from them, if they did something wrong, if they're not good enough for you, if you ever loved them at all, and what _else_ you might be doing behind their back. Your betrayal will have destroyed their trust in you, and rebuilding the relationship will be an uphill battle if it's even possible at all.

I could never get the timing down on the dueling minigame. Chain shot is risk-free (and cost-free since dueling risks your crew), plus the dueling minigame gets harder as your character gets older but your sailing muscle memory remains reliable forever.

In Sid Meier's Pirates! it was the objectively correct choice 99% of the time. Even a tiny ship could take out a ship of the line with a few well-placed chain shot barrages, and ships would pretty much always surrender the instant they lost their mast. I think the story battles were an exception to the instant surrender rule, but without their sails you could switch to grape shot and pepper their helpless vessel until they had no crew left, then board for an instant victory. I miss that game. I should redownload it and see how it holds up.
