I just emerged from a personal rabbit hole: in playing with asterisk and SIP devices again I dug up a Cisco ata 186 and wondered about the settings, especially the settings that make it sound "American". So several searches later I ended up in the "Recommended Cisco ATA Tone Parameter Values by Country" document.
Keeping links to where I found documents and keeping local backups because the devices are out of support.
