The 51st, a worker-led nonprofit news source for D.C., built from the discarded timbers of DCist, launched today at https://51st.news Their spring Kickstarter brought in $250K.

End of a long weekend and end of an era.

#xoxofest has been celebrating the best of the indie world since 2012, and being brutally honest about how hard it is. There was always tears and emotional bruises, laughter, joy and cupcakes.
