Seeing what Bill Pulte's now doing as acting DNI brought to mind my investigations of manipulation and fraud on Twitter.
As you can see by the photo, he and fellow St Louis native Jack Dorsey were great mates, joining together for something they labelled "TwitterPhilanthropy".

I've been rather quiet on my chart-rigging investigation, but that's because I've moved into exploring the actual nuts and bolts of how it all works.
This recent piece in Wired, though, shows how the problem is slowly being exposed.

@renchap@oisaur.com When I search my @ on Google, my own posts don't immediately appear. But all searchable replies do, so it takes a flick of the finger to scroll up and find my posts.
This is exactly the same "protection" you're promising here, n'est-ce pas?

@ech@qoto.org @crowgirl@hachyderm.io Yup. I went to Twitter and read the story that's in the screenshot. Sounds like a neighbour or "friend" shipped the woman in question to the cops, who then demanded - and legally obtained - the info from Facebook. FB didn't initiate the harm.

@crowgirl@hachyderm.io This is what happened at kolektiva.social too. If there's a subpoena or a warrant, site owners have to hand over the info.
Meta is bad enough as it is. Why spread misinformation?
