@krismicinski@types.pl @zyang@mathstodon.xyz Sure, there's so much stuff one is supposed to do that it's necessary to understand what one can get away with for many BS tasks. It's a bit sad and ironic that general perfectionism is a very bad strategy in academia.

**Postdoc positions in homotopy type theory**

I would like to invite applications for two postdoctoral positions in homotopy type theory at the University of Nottingham, UK. The positions are initially for three years, after which an extension is likely to be possible. The suggested starting date is 1 October this year, but please get in touch even if you could only start later.

Our group in Nottingham has multiple academics, postdocs, and PhD students working in the field, and we have regular seminars and informal discussions which contribute to a great environment for working, learning, and collaboration. There are no teaching obligations attached to these positions, but there are teaching and supervision opportunities.

The current call primarily addresses candidates who already work in (homotopy) type theory. However, if you work in a related area and are interested in type theory, please do not hesitate to contact me for an informal discussion!

The official advert can be found at [1], and the closing date is 25 July.
If you are interested, I would encourage you to get in touch with me!

**PhD positions (and postdoc positions) available**

I have two PhD and two postdoc positions available. The default starting date would be Oct 2025 (as they are funded through an ERC project on type theory starting in fall 2025), but earlier/later starts may be possible. If you are looking for a position, please get in touch: nicolai.kraus@nottingham.ac.uk
https://www.cs.nott.ac.uk/~psznk/

**PhD positions**:

If you are looking for a PhD position, please let me know your interest by email, ideally before **December 15**. I will review applications on a rolling basis. You can check out my website (link above) to see the areas I am working in, but in general, I'm happy to advise on projects in areas such as:

- Homotopy type theory in general
- Higher categories
- Two-level type theory
- Type theories with shapes, such as simplicial type theory
- Conservativity questions
- Constructive ordinal numbers

The PhD positions are for (at least) 3.5 years, include all tuition fees, and come with a stipend at the UKRI standard (currently approx. £19,200 net annually, increases with inflation). You will not be obliged to teach but there will be opportunities to do so, paid on top of the stipend. A generous budget for travel (conference attendance, research visits, etc) is available. The place of work is Nottingham, where we have a vibrant culture of regular seminars and meetings. Current members of our group can be found on our group website: https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/research/groups/fp-lab/

**Postdoc positions**:

I will advertise the postdoc positions again closer to the date and the official application portal is not yet open. However, feel free to contact me at any time for questions/discussions.
