20-years-old. Polish blind guy who produces music, mostly Hip Hop and Jazz, listens to music, also Hip Hop and Jazz, with lots of different genres in between. Also in to tech, old Power PC Macs, old samplers like the SP1200, and various other shenanigans.

@kirakira@furry.engineer God I hate when sites do this, esp because it will often happen while I'm still activelly trying to do something but had to step away for whatever reason

@alpuzz@mastodon.social @fastfinge@fed.interfree.ca This is a Chromium thing. It shows this when it's internal OCR fails I believe.

@TheQuinbox@dragonscave.space This was probably the worst part about learning how to make music for me, and largely why I stuck mostly to BoomBap beats instead of going further in to electronic production. It's been on my roadmap to learn efficient synth usage as a blind person but I keep putting it off lol. Maybe I'll finally do it at my colledge with their hardware modular setup

@FreakyFwoof this is my experience making music, except for the reporting it steps. This is predomenantly the reason why I keep buying and testing samplers for usability all the time, I'd quite like to move away from software

Just bought a Nokia N900, going to try and fuck about with getting speech / screenreading to work on it. I love fun old Linux devices like that, more so if like the N900 they have a still active community.

Has anyone ever archived ftp.scansoft.com/pub/speechworks? I found out this exists some time ago while looking up more information about Eloquence, but sadly it seems to be dead for quite a number of years now. IA has some Scansoft FTP archives, but not Speechworks / TTS related unfortunately. I'm curious what was inside.

A couple of days ago I spent about a day using Claude Code to translate a Polish book I desperately wanted my friends to read in to English, then we beta read it with my friend. There were a few issues, but a few rounds of planning mode and corrections and I now have an entire book, translated to English using AI in about a day, which even manages to capture much of the original humor. This got me thinking about AI and writing original fiction. AI has notoriously been bad at writing. Well, maybe not bad, but very, very average. It could never write fiction which wasn't bland. I've been to curious however and decided to open pandora's box and made it research how to not sound like an AI and write a piece of original fiction. I think this is the 1st time I've genuinely been terrified by technology. Mostly because it wrote an above average piece of fiction without me even half-trying. It was actually enjoyable to read and I don't know what to think about that. On the one hand, it's nice you can now get personalised writing or whatever and if you enjoy it, who are we to stop you. On the other hand though as an artist this is really fucking irkfull. There is no humanity in that, or is there, because if you coordinate AI to write something based on your experiences, your issues, ETC does that make it valid? IDK. This put me in a philosophical minefield so I'm putting it out there for y'all to discuss this with me.
